Positive Partnerships

A national project funded by the Australian Government of Education. Positive Partnerships offers professional learning and resources through workshops, webinars and online modules for parents, carers and school staff.

The online learning hub has free self-paced modules and webinar recordings that explore different areas of autism and education. You will need to create an account using an email address to access the online modules.

inclusionED

inclusionED is a suite of evidence-based and research-informed teaching practices and resources co-designed with educators, for educators to support inclusive classrooms developed through a collaboration between Autism Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The teaching practices are underpinned by the principles of Universal Design for Learning.

Teaching practices are divided into 7 broad categories, with each practice divided into 2 areas: preparing to teach—background information about the practice and how it works; in the classroom—information on how to implement the practice in the classroom.

Student Wellbeing Hub

Funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, this website provides free resources for educators including a dedicated section for supporting autistic students including recorded webinars, videos, online modules and teaching resources. 

  • Starting school: Autism resources for educators—practical ideas to help students, relationship building with families, strategies from other educations, and different perspectives from autistic individual and families with autistic children.
  • Autism: Respectful relationships—teaching resources for using with students including expressing feelings, puberty, understanding sexuality and developing positive relationships (Year 5–9).
  • Interoception and self-regulation—free online professional learning modules. You will need to create an account using an email address and password.
  • Assess your classroom environment—this interactive online tool recommends simple changes which can make your classroom a more inclusive space.

Autism Awareness Australia

An independent organisation founded in 2007 to improve the lives of autistic Australians and their families. Online information includes dedicated topics and sections for both parents and educators, including recorded webinars and animations.

  • Early years—information to support children under the age of 5 and their parents/carers and early childhood educators.
  • School years—information to support school-aged children and their families and educators across all stages from 5–18 years.

Autism Internet Modules

Autism Internet Modules (AIM) provides free online professional learning offering modules based on evidence-based strategies to better understand, plan for and support autistic students. Modules include case studies, instructional videos, pre-and-post assessments, discussion questions and activities. You will need to create an account using an email address and password. Autism Focused Intervention Resources and Modules

Autism Focused Intervention Resources and Modules (AFIRM) are designed to unpack the step-by-step process of planning for, using, and monitoring the 28 identified evidence-based practices (EBPs) to support autistic students.
